Talence, near Bordeaux, France, January 26, 2015 – The Route des Lasers, a competitiveness cluster exclusively for photonics companies, today announces it will join eight of its emerging technology firms exhibiting their latest innovations at Photonics West and BIOS 2015. The innovations will span a range of light-based technologies and systems for present day and future applications. They cover everything from healthcare and consumer products to materials processing for advanced manufacturing, lighting and quantum computing.
The Route des Lasers sees the US as a highly important and attractive market for photonics technologies; the main driver of innovation in the 21st century according to the European Commission. The majority of French photonics firms export. Exports represent 70 per cent of their of their production, approximately €7 billion in annual sales (source: upcoming Photonics Market Study, the French Ministry of the Economy, Finances and Industry’s Directorate General for Enterprises).
Participation at Photonics West and BIOS, where 20,000 attendees are expected, creates an opportunity for them to demonstrate the technological appeal underlying their innovations to international audiences.
“The Route des Lasers is excited about the remarkable innovations that its cluster members will exhibit at both BIOS and Photonics West next month. Our participation further builds on the worldwide recognition French photonics has garnered in aerospace, biomedical, automotive, telecommunications, defense and security, instrumentation and industrial processes and other fields,” said Herve Floch, VP of the Route des Lasers competitiveness cluster. “Visitors will see super resolution microscopes, new ultrafast lasers showing the ultimate in beam quality, deformable mirrors for wave-front correction of intense laser beams and learn about the 3D printing of human skin, among others. We expect high interest in our innovations on show this year from system integrators, researchers, OEMS or anyone developing photonics materials and processes. We also aim to leverage this interest by seeking new cluster collaborations.”
The Route des Lasers will be at BIOS booth #8310 and Photonics West booth #1323. It will host two cocktail events: BIOS on Saturday, February 7 at 4:00pm and Photonics West on Wednesday, February 11 at 4:00pm onwards.
Based in Bordeaux, France, the Route des Lasers competitiveness cluster has become one of Europe’s highest concentrations of scientific expertise in photonics. This includes developing and building one of the two largest ever laser facilities: the Laser Megajoule (LMJ), which the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls officially launched in October 2014.
The Route des Lasers’ upcoming partnership with the French Tech Hub in San Francisco is one of the steps the cluster is also taking to reinforce the presence of its photonics firms in the US market. It will be coordinating regional events to celebrate the ‘International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies’.
Among the innovations on exhibit will be:
Alphanov the technology center of the Route des Laser cluster will introduce a Triggered Picosecond Laser Platform, based on a fully fibered innovative design. This platform enables the development of compact and robust lasers, resulting in more reliable lasers at a very affordable cost.
Meet Alphanov at Photonics West booth #1323.
Amplitude Systemes a leading manufacturer of new generation ultrafast solid-state lasers will present the world's first industrial, compact, femtosecond laser at 50W, the Satsuma HP3 - a true femtosecond (< 350 fs) laser.
Visit Amplitude Systemes at Photonics West booth #1333 and BIOS booth #8310.
Argolight a solution provider for calibrating fluorescence microscopes will exhibit a brand new logbook service. This is the first automatized quality management solution for microscopes; this makes it 15 times faster to perform quality assessment for microscope. This translates into significant productivity gains on systems that can now be evaluated more frequently and be used 24/7; reducing down time.
Argolight will be at BIOS booth #8310.
Azur Light Systems (ALS) manufactures fiber lasers at new wavelengths (visible and IR) for scientific, industrial and bio-medical applications. At Photonics West, ALS will be seeking collaborations with system integrators in the field of biomedical analysis, such as microscopy, cytometry and Raman, as well as industrial laser systems, such as control, LDV and holograms on fibers lasers for Argon laser drop-in replacement.
Meet ALS at Photonics West booth #1323.
Eolite Lasers a developer of new technologies to reach high average power frequency tunable pulsed fiber lasers will introduce Chinook 1ps (picosecond), the new high power and high repetition rate 1ps fiber laser. This laser, fully engineered for industrial 24/7 applications, is based on a new generation large core fiber. It features disruptive technologies to achieve over 20MW of peak power at high repetition rate.
Eolite Lasers will be located at booth #4041 at Photonics West.
Imagine Optics a leading provider of Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensing will be at Photonics West booth #1333 and BIOS booth #8310.
ISP System specialists in precision engineering for medical devices, optical and measurement equipment will announce two new products:
- An MD-AME deformable mirror based on electro-mechanical patented actuators for wave-front correction of intense laser beams. The design allows an accurate wave front correction with high dynamic without print-through effect
- A laser sintering/soldering machine to manufacture power electronic chips
Meet ISP System at Photonics West booth #1323.
NeTHIS specializing in making industrial vision instruments for imaging, will introduce its latest product TeraPower. TeraPower is a laser beam power meter offering the largest spectral range on this product category. It can measure the laser power of UV, infrared or THz from several microwatts to a watt.
