May 13, 2015, Barrington, N.J. - Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces new Beam Twisters™. These beam shaping lenses are used to rotate the beams emitted by the individual laser bars by 90° using a preassembled proprietary molded glass twister array combined with a fast axis collimator.
Assembly includes fast axis collimator and rotation array
Beam Twisters™ are comprised of an assembly of a fast axis collimator lens of S-TiH53 and a beam rotation lens array. Light emitted initially from a laser bar appears to be in the shape of a line. Once it has passed through a Beam Twister™, the laser bar's light transmission is transformed into a square-shaped appearance by its 90° rotation. This square configuration is beneficial to a laser line because it allows the beam to be focused into a spot, which may be used with fiber optics or a variety of other beam delivery systems.
Greater than 97% transmission
Providing greater than 97% transmission, RoHS compliant Beam Twisters™ feature NIR coatings with an average reflectance of less than 0.5% at 800-1000nm. A 24 emitter model with 400μm pitch and a 19 emitter version with 500μm pitch are both available. Beam Twisters™ are ideal for pairing with a slow axis collimator for complete laser beam collimation. Beam Twisters™ are in-stock and available for immediate delivery for fast turnaround and excellent value.
