January 28, 2014, Barrington, N.J. - Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces its new TECHSPEC® IG6 Infrared (IR) Aspheric Lenses. These lenses are ideal for IR lasers, thermal imaging or FTIR Spectroscopy and are also outstanding for use with other IR components.
IG6 features excellent transmission with low dn/dt
TECHSPEC IG6 IR Aspheric Lenses are designed for use in optical systems with performance in the IR wavelength region. They are made of IG6, a germanium-free chalcogenide material comprised of elements arsenic and selenium. IG6, a widely recognized equivalent material for AMTIR-51, features excellent transmission, minimal dispersion, and low dn/dt, which is the change in refractive index with temperature. This simplifies development of color-corrected, IR optical systems that are also free from thermal defocus.
Four models available with focal lengths from 12.5 mm-50 mm
TECHSPEC IG6 IR Aspheric Lenses provide diffraction limited performance. The lenses feature a lower index of refraction and a higher uncoated transmission than comparable Germanium lenses. Uncoated TECHSPEC IG6 IR Aspheric Lenses are available in 25 mm diameter models with focal lengths of 12.5 mm or 25 mm and 50 mm diameter models with focal lengths of 25 mm or 50 mm. TECHSPEC IG6 IR Aspheric Lenses are in-stock and available for immediate delivery for fast turnaround and excellent value.
