Oulu, Finland – September 30, 2025 – Specim, a Konica Minolta company and global leader in hyperspectral imaging, announces the Specim SX25, a high-resolution short-wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral camera – built for those who demand the most accurate material analysis
Precise and Repeatable Material Analysis Beyond the Visible
Operating in the 960–2500 nm range, the Specim SX25 sets a new benchmark in SWIR hyperspectral imaging with world-leading resolution. It delivers 640 spatial pixels, up to 392 selectable spectral bands, 8 nm spectral resolution, and a superior 1500:1 signal-to-noise ratio, enabling precise separation of even the most closely spaced spectral features with exceptional data quality. At 162 fps full resolution, the SX25 supports also the most demanding high-throughput workflows without compromising accuracy.
Designed for flexibility, the Specim SX25 offers multiple lens options and an adjustable working distance, enabling users to optimize field of view and resolution for everything from wide-area scanning to close-up macro analysis.
With its GigE Vision interface and full compatibility with Specim’s ecosystem—including the Lab Scanner, SisuROCK workstation, and SpecimINSIGHT and LUMO software—the SX25 ensures seamless integration and fast deployment in both research and industrial environments.
Built-in Advanced Image Enhancement (AIE) delivers ready-to-use data straight from the camera, significantly reducing post-processing time and accelerating workflows.
Unified spectral calibration ensures every camera unit is spectrally aligned, providing consistent and repeatable results across multiple systems. This unique capability gives researchers and industrial users a decisive advantage in multi-system setups, global projects, and large-scale operations where absolute comparability of results is critical.
From coating layer inspection and mineral and ore classification to food quality inspection, agricultural and pharmaceutical research, and cultural heritage conservation, the Specim SX25 combines spatial accuracy, spectral detail, and high optical performance to meet the needs of the most demanding users.
“The Specim SX25 sets a new standard in SWIR hyperspectral imaging, combining superior performance with seamless system integration. Its unique unified spectral calibration ensures consistent results across multiple systems—making it the top choice for industrial and research environments where precision, repeatability, and efficiency are essential.”
—Sami Toljamo, CCO, Specim
“The Specim SX25 expands our SWIR portfolio. While the Specim SWIR 3.3 remains a robust and trusted choice for applications requiring speed, the SX25 delivers a leap forward in precision and detail. Together, they give our customers the flexibility to select the right tool for their specific needs.”
—Jere Hartikainen, CTO, Specim
The Specim SX25 is now available now through Specim’s global sales network.
