Ettlingen – In its VC Base+ and VC Board Cam lines, image processing expert Vision Components now also employs new 2.2 and 4.2 megapixel sensors from CMOSIS. These sensors provide both high resolution and high frame rates, are very light-sensitive, and deliver an excellent image quality. They feature a global shutter, a fast trigger mode, and a triggered linescan mode that allows for frame rates up to 18 kHz. The CMOSIS-based cameras are therefore suited for use as line scan cameras in high-speed applications.
Cameras available with the new CMOSIS sensors are the standard models VC7222 and VC7224, and the board cameras VCSBC6222 nano RH and VCSBC6224 nano RH which feature a remote sensor head. Measuring 2/3ʺ, the 2.2 megapixel sensor can record up to 46 images per second at full resolution (2,048 x 1,088 pixels). By means of a freely programmable ROI setting, it can also support the FullHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, or reach a frame rate of 320 images per second at VGA resolution. Measuring 1ʺ, the 4.2 megapixel sensor provides big pixels and is especially light-sensitive and low-noise. At full resolution (2,048 x 2,048 pixels), it can record 23 images per second. In addition to high-speed tasks, typical applications are industrial image processing, traffic monitoring, 3D scans, motion surveillance, automotive applications, barcode and OCR recognition, and microscopy.
