Compact, decentralized and economic: ARM-based single-board computer offer great new opportunities for machine vision applications. Industrial camera manufacturer IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH from Obersulm, Germany now offers a special Linux driver (alpha version) for the Raspberry Pi Embedded Board for feasibility studies and virtualization purposes.

When combined with IDS USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 cameras, simple and inexpensive applications for kiosk systems, for microscopy, or for the ITS sector can be implemented already. The USB 2 uEye XS with its wealth of automatic functions is the perfect addition to the Raspberry Pi. Furthermore it not only offers consumer comfort but also fulfills every criteria of an industrial camera.

This also includes a download link for the driver’s alpha version which can be accessed after an initial registration. Please note that no support will be given at this stage.

Further developments of the driver, including the IDS Software Suite, are in the pipeline. Special porting and custom projects are available upon request.
