Jena, June 2020: With the product launch of the a|TopShape LD (LongDistance) asphericon presents another compact beam shaping system based on aspheric optics. The BeamTuning portfolio, consisting of various elements for beam expansion and beam shaping, is thus extended by a further modular beam shaper for the generation of collimated Top-Hat intensity distributions.

The a|TopShape LD converts collimated Gaussian beams into collimated Top-Hat beams at a working distance of up to 4.5 m and thereby accepts varying input beam diameters (±10%). Depending on the required homogeneity, the new product can also be used to generate stable Top-Hat profiles at a distance of up to seven meters. The a|TopShape operates in a spectral range from 320 to 2500 nm and is available in the design wavelengths 355, 405, 532, 780 and 1064 nm.

"With the new a|TopShape LD, we are expanding our product range to include a product based on customer feedback. Many customers were looking for a solution for homogeneous beam profiles at a longer working distance of more than 300 mm. This motivated us to develop the a|TopShape LD," says product manager Sabrina Matthias. "In addition to the significantly increased working distance, we also support customers who want to subsequently reduce Top-Hat profiles to very small diameters. Since this always involves losing part of the working distance, beam shapers for smaller working distances can be quite a challenge. With homogeneous Top-Hat profiles up to a distance of at least 4.5 m, this is no longer a problem," Mrs. Matthias continues.

The a|TopShape LD is used in life science, metrology and quantum mechanics as well as for laser applications and applications in the UV range. The new beam shaper is now available in asphericon's webshop.
