Hudson, NH; January 21, 2014. AIRS and AIM announced today that they have entered into a unique collaboration to provide high performance cooled infrared imaging solutions to the United States market. AIRS will increase its capabilities to market, design, integrate and support AIM components and products. Fundamental to the collaboration is AIRS’ ability to add high value to AIM components and subsystems, enabling customization to meet specific end user mission requirements.
AIRS’ goal is to provide best in class cooled infrared camera capabilities to industry and US DoD customers. This objective is now further enhanced by AIRS’ ability to integrate best in breed components and assemblies from AIM. This collaboration will pave the way for solutions which will fill product and technology gaps that currently exist in the infrared market.
AIRS commenced operations less than 18 months ago and has rapidly advanced its capabilities in cooled infrared technology by bringing to market AIRS’ high performance Nyx line of imaging products based on T2SLS technology. AIRS offers OEM customers a highly valued relationship focused on new technology, enabling low cost product design, integration and lifecycle support. Both companies excel in applications requiring high performance cryogenically cooled LWIR and MWIR IRFPA technologies.
Dan Manitakos, President of AIRS, says, “We are extremely excited about this agreement with AIM, who have proven products that are well known to DOD and industry customers in the US. The integration of AIM’s MCT FPAs and subsystems, along with our existing T2SLS FPA based products, will enable AIRS to offer a broader solution set to our customers. Furthermore, it is clear that both AIRS and AIM cultures are dominated by an increasingly rare passion for infrared, creating a mutual foundation for a strong relationship.”
Wolfgang Cabanski, CEO of AIM added, “AIM has been delivering IR components to the US Forces and major US system houses since more than 30 years. To extend this business into new markets, we have been looking for a partner with in depth capabilities in IR technology to provide US specific added value to AIM's high performance FPAs, coolers etc. We started the discussion with Mr. Manitakos even before he had formally founded AIRS, because of his entrepreneurial attitude and business model, his highly experienced and skilled team and the good match of competencies. Our teams are eager to start the first common projects immediately."
