Princeton Optronics, industry recognized leader in high efficiency, high power VCSELs and VCSEL arrays, announces a 4.8kW output power VCSEL array module at 808nm designed especially for hair removal and other aesthetics applications.

Laser hair removal is becoming a major segment for the laser market with a significant number of companies making hair removal equipment for home and clinic use. VCSELs offer a major advantage for their high power, low cost and packaging simplicity for use for this market. The intended use of this product is for hair removal and other aesthetic applications such as wrinkle and fat mitigation.

Princeton Optronics announces a VCSEL module of total power output of 4.8kW consisting of individual 5x5mm arrays of power of 250W at 808nm which can be operated for a pulse duration of 25 to 100mS. For hair removal, a pulse energy ranging from 25 to 100J is required from a single pulse of 10 to 100ms duration. The output can be focused to smaller areas such as 3x3 cm. Princeton Optronics makes such modules at 1064nm as well or we sometime mix 1064nm arrays of similar power in the module for mixed wavelength output to address different hair colors.
