Barcelona-based Radiantis specialises in creating ultrafast, fully-integrated laser systems which incorporate both the pump laser and the optical parametric oscillator (OPO) in a single housing, and the latest addition to its range of products, the Blaze, is certainly living up to its name.

“We have been extremely pleased with the feedback we have received so far from our customers,” says CEO Sara Otero. “The Blaze was designed to fill a gap in the existing market by providing a complete solution for end-users while still maintaining a high level of usability, stability and a smaller footprint.”

The off-the-shelf product incorporates both the sophisticated Kerr-lens mode-locked Ti:sapphire oscillator and a state-of-the-art IR OPO. As such, it is the first commercially available, broadly tunable, femtosecond OPO-based laser system in a single housing.

“This is an ideal tool for nonlinear microscopy applications which require a compact and stable broadly tunable IR laser system providing short pulse durations and power stability,” adds Dr. Otero.

It features 4 output ports, which serve to deliver the signal (across 1000 and 1550 nm), the idler (across 1620 to 4000 nm), the Ti:sapphire (at 800 nm) and the pump (at 532 nm).

The Blaze also incorporates dedicated control software, which enables users to select the desired output using a single PC. Plus, to ensure shortest pulse durations across the spectral range, an advanced dynamic dispersion compensation module which allows independent optimisation of the pulse duration for different wavelengths is included.

“We also worked very hard to make sure that the Blaze provides users with an exceptionally high level of beam-pointing stability,” says Otero. “This maximizes its usability in applications where reduced beam misalignment is required to counter laser beam displacements.”

The Blaze’s sealed, compact and hands-free design combined with virtual maintenance-free operation offers an extremely high quality but cost-effective laser system for applications such as multi-photon microscopy, time-resolved spectroscopy, or coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS).
