Raptor Photonics has launched a new EMCCD camera, the Kestrel 1000, offering ultra-low readout noise while running at 1,000 frames per second (fps) in full frame and up to 1,800 fps with ROI. The camera has a 128 x 128 back-thinned monochrome frame transfer sensor with 24µm pixels for optimum image resolution in low light imaging applications.

The camera is cooled to -20°C using air or water. It runs in 16-bit Camera Link output for realtime imaging for low latency photon to digital image and offers up to 95% QE With EM gain on it offers less than 1 electron read noise.

The Kestrel 1000 offers strong VIS and NIR response and ultrawide bandwidth – From 350nm through to 1100nm. It can be used for a number of applications including Adaptive Optics and Astronomy, Calcium signaling, High-resolution fluorescence imaging, Hyperspectral imaging, X-ray & High energy, Particle Image Velocimetry and high-speed object tracking
