The intelligent, Linux-based cameras of the D3 generation can now transmit data via a wireless network interface. The wireless adapter supports IEEE 802.11b+g+n, features a transmission rate of 150 Mbps, and has a compact design at a weight of 3 grams.
“All cameras of the D3 generation can perform image processing task autonomously without additional PC. For the transmission of image processing results like status messages or data matrix code information, a cable is not necessarily required,” explains Oliver Menken, director of VRmagic Imaging. “For this reason we decided to integrate our intelligent D3 cameras into the network wirelessly. In addition to the flexible and easy integration of mobile and hard-to-access participants, the connection of tablet PCs, smartphones, and others is possible.”
From version 4.2 onwards the D3 software supports the wireless adapter. A driver package for software version 4.1 is available. The wireless adapter can be ordered from VRmagic.
