Andover, MA – June 24, 2019 – MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI) introduces its Spectra-Physics® IceFyre® 355-50, a high power, industrial UV picosecond hybrid fiber laser with industry-leading performance and versatility and low cost-of-ownership.  Delivering >50 W UV power, ultrashort pulses, and highest power at repetition rates up to 10 MHz, the laser is ideal for high throughput, high quality micromachining in 24/7 production lines. With programmable burst mode, advanced triggering, and widely adjustable repetition rates, IceFyre 355-50 offers unprecedented versatility for process optimization and adaptability to new materials and requirements.  The new laser enables cold micromachining in high volume manufacturing of 5G electronics components and flexible printed circuits, OLED and flexible displays, solar photovoltaic cells, and many other materials and devices.

As an important addition to the successful family of IceFyre picosecond lasers, IceFyre 355-50 delivers >50 W UV average power and 10 ps pulse widths with adjustable repetition rates from single shot up to 10 MHz.  Featuring pulse-on-demand (POD) and position synchronized output (PSO) triggering, the industry’s lowest timing jitter, and built-in dynamic power adjustment, the new laser delivers precise control for high speed processes.  IceFyre 355-50’s TimeShift ps programmable pulse capability results in flexible burst mode operation with adjustable burst shape, pulse separation and number of pulses in a burst, all with high UV power available.

Building on MKS’ deep experience and technology, the Spectra-Physics IceFyre 355-50 leverages an efficient patent-pending design to yield high performance, high reliability and low cost-of-ownership.  Fully automated and computer controlled, the laser exhibits exceptional stability in power and beam pointing to ensure high reproducibility and precision for demanding applications.
