Plymouth, MI / Hamburg, Germany, February 2, 2016: From UV to IR wavelength, from ultrashort pulses to continuous-wave and from low to high power – ROFIN is showcasing a cross-section through its entire technology spectrum at the SPIE Photonics West, the premier photonics and laser event (February 16 - 18, 2016, San Francisco/California). Together with its subsidiaries Lee Laser and LASAG, ROFIN will display the various products in its booth (# 923) in the South Hall.

A wealth of experience with industrial short and ultrashort pulse laser sources and applications

With StarFemto, StarPico and PowerLine Pico, ROFIN will present the complete product-lineup of ultrashort and short pulse laser sources at the Photonics West.

ROFIN's latest developed StarFemto and StarPico ultrashort pulse lasers built on ROFIN's advanced Hybrid MOPA technology. They are designed not only for cutting all kinds of different materials, even brittle materials such as glass or sapphire, and the high-precision drilling of various hole geometries, but also for structuring work on a µm scale, the selective removal of layers, or for marking.

The StarFemto provides an average output of 20 W at repetition rates of up to 2 MHz. The StarPico with its 15 ps pulses produces an average output of 50 W at pulse frequencies of up to 30 MHz. ROFIN offers integration packages for both systems for a wide variety of applications. With their high repetition rates, patented programmable Burst Mode, and exceedingly robust and low-maintenance design, the StarPico and StarFemto set the standard for industrial ultrashort pulse lasers.

Short pulse lasers from ROFIN offer a high pulse peak performance. This enhances the removal quality, reduces surface roughness, and allows for even greater precision for the selective removal of layers. The thermal penetration depth during removal-sensitive processes, such as marking certain metals and semiconductor materials, can likewise be significantly reduced with shorter pulses. PowerLine Pico Series lasers are ideally suited for challenging marking and micro applications.

ROFIN's 3rd generation high-power fiber lasers – small and efficient

ROFIN 3rd generation fiber lasers are highly efficient, compact and meet the requirements of harsh industrial environments thanks to the modular and robust design. The FL Series fiber lasers are available in output powers of up to 8 kW for economical, yet powerful welding and fast cutting. At the Photonics West, ROFIN presents its compact 2 kW laser, the FL 020 C, generating the power from a single fiber laser module. With the smallest footprint yet, this laser can be easily integrated into existing machine concepts.

All FL Series lasers are characterized by their high efficiency and excellent beam quality. They are equipped with the “ROFIN Control Unit” (RCU) which, in addition to diverse monitoring functionalities, also offers e-service capability, as well as an integrated control for scanner-based applications.

ROFIN's proven CO2 sealed-off Slab laser technology – versatile, reliable and powerful

ROFIN's SR Series CO2 lasers are the perfect tools for cutting, structuring, deburring or marking paper, wood, plastic or other materials. The powerful 100, 150 and 250 W sealed-off lasers with their enclosed design and integrated RF technology are ideal for use in extreme climatic conditions (IP 67). The compact and lightweight design allows for simple integration or even installation on robotic arms. The enclosed construction results in longer intervals for replacing the gas cylinder and make the laser practically maintenance-free. Every detail of the laser was designed with the utmost care right from the development stage to keep maintenance costs down to an absolute minimum. High throughput, cost-efficiency, flexibility and reliability are the main characteristics of the SR Series. At the Photonics West, the SR 10i with an output power of 100 W will be on display. This laser is available with wavelengths of 10.6 µm, 9.3 µm and 10.25 µm and therefore a versatile tool for various applications.

Reliable and rugged diode-pumped, solid-state lasers from ROFIN’s subsidiary Lee Laser

The LDP Series of high-power 355 nm light sources are the next generation of proven Lee Laser industrial grade UV lasers. OEM’s and End Use processors are requiring higher power, in the UV regime, for higher quality and faster processing of electronic components. At the Photonics West, the new LDP-300MQU laser with up to 150 W @ 355 nm will be on display, which was designed to meet this need. These Nd:YAG lasers are built to stand up to the demands of industrial end users by delivering dependable, reliable, and stable power across a wide operating range. These lasers can also be configured in a Dual platform to deliver up to 300 W @ 355nm.

Out of the 532 nm product range, Lee will present the LDP-500MQG with 250 W @ 532 nm. Nd:YAG lasers from Lee Laser are used in a wide range of industrial, medical, and institutional applications around the world. Known for their dependability and stability, they range in power from 25 – 250 Watts and can be configured for many different end use applications. These lasers can also be configured in a Dual platform to deliver up to 500 W @ 532nm.

High precision laser processing heads made in Switzerland

First time displayed at an exhibition: The brand new LASAG FLBK 40 – a lightweight, compact laser processing head for welding, cutting and drilling. Thanks to its low mass and moment of inertia it is designed for use on industrial robots or linear axes. Due to its compact design, the FLBK 40 could also be integrated in small workstations. Similar to its "big brother" FLBK 60 the FLBK 40 has a modular design as well as the high end optical components.

Based on its modular design, the industry proven, extremely durable processing head LASAG FLBK 60 provides more than 200 possible optical configurations. Within seconds it can flexibly be adapted from welding to cutting or drilling applications.

LASAG also presents the special laser cutting head Triple FLBK. By cutting three identical workpieces simultaneously it triples the production capacity of your machine.
