XiO Photonics B.V. introduces a new PIC Modules which optimized for wavelengths from 400 to 2000 nm. With this technology laser light can be manipulated on chip by splitting beams, combining beams, controlling intensity, phase, mode size and input- output configurations.

The PIC modules contain the world’s first chip-based integrated laser light manipulator for wavelengths in the visible and near IR range. It can control intensity, phase, polarization and mode size of the light signals on the chip. Visible lasers can be modulated towards MHz speed by using the PIC modules. Especially for frequency doubled lasers that can not be modulated directly at high speeds, this is a unique solution.

The PIC Modules are based on photonic integrated circuit technology, optimized for wavelengths from 400 to 2000 nm. The modules contain a set of functions from our optical building block library such as wavelength combiners, power splitters, variable attenuators and modulators. XiO Photonics B.V. have developed a specific high efficiency fiber coupling technology to connect the lasers to the on-chip waveguides. All optical functions are integrated on the chip, eliminating the need for individually stabilized laser sources and additional components like AOTF or noise eaters.

With this building block, any visible laser can be modulated fast, while keeping its noise low.
