Hamamatsu, Japan – November 5, 2013 – Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. has developed the world’s smallest “fingertip size” micro-spectrometer (part number: C12666MA), an ultra-compact, lightweight and low-cost device which, according to Hamamatsu’s research, provides nearly the same performance as Hamamatsu’s MS series mini-spectrometer while being roughly half its size. The new micro-spectrometer offers measurement in the visible wavelength range, and can be used for applications such as color sensing in printing machines and LED lighting, point-of-care testing connected to smartphones, and other types of portable measurement. Samples of the C12666MA will be available to manufacturers from December 25, 2013.

The C12666MA micro-spectrometer will be shown at Photon Fair 2013, the company’s new technology exhibition to be held from November 7 to 9 at the Act City Hamamatsu convention center in Hamamatsu, Japan.
