TOKYO, September 5, 2013—Canon Inc. and Canon Marketing Japan Inc. announced today the introduction in Japan of the CN-E35mm T1.5 L F, a new 35 mm fixed-focal-length EF Cinema Lens for digital interchangeable-lens cinema cameras.

Delivering exceptional optical performance, the CE-E35mm T1.5 L F (EF mount) is designed to fulfill contemporary 4K (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) production standards, which offer a level of resolution exceeding four times the resolution of Full HD. The addition of the new lens further enhances the EF Cinema Lens lineup while bolstering the versatile, high-resolution expressive capabilities of Canon’s Cinema EOS System.

Because it is compatible with 35 mm full-frame sensors, the CN-E35mm T1.5 L F can be paired not only with high-end digital SLR cameras, but also with Canon’s EF-mount digital cinema camera lineup equipped with industry-standard-size Super 35 mm-equivalent sensors. A low T number of 1.5 offers bright performance, enabling the effective use of natural light during low-light shooting, while the 11-blade aperture diaphragm achieves soft, attractive blur characteristics.

Since the launch of the Cinema EOS System and seven EF Cinema Lenses in November 2011, Canon has expanded its EF Cinema Lens lineup. With the introduction of the latest lens, the lineup now comprises a total of 14 models.

Through the comprehensive strength of its EF Cinema zoom and prime lenses, Canon will continue responding to a diverse range of cinematic and video-production needs while contributing to further expanding the world of visual expression and the development of cinematic culture.

The CN-E35mm T1.5 l F will go on sale in Japan in early December 2013 priced at ¥440,000 (excluding tax).
