e2v aerospace and defense inc. (e2v a&d), a leading provider of technology solutions for high performance systems, announces the introduction of the CIRES™  line of color, infrared extended sensing cameras. Enabled by e2v’s own Ruby family of CMOS sensors, CIRES™ cameras deliver full SXGA (1280x1024) or HDTV (720p) video up to 60 fps for use from daylight to low-light level conditions in defense and security applications.

CIRES™ cameras provide high sensitivity from the visible to the near-infrared (400 nm – 1100 nm) and are available with global shutter or electronic rolling shutter sensors, in both color and mono versions.  Based on an ultra-compact and lightweight design (less than 1.5 cubic inches and 70 grams) that requires minimal power consumption (less than 1.5 watts), the CIRES™ camera offers SWAP-C advantages desired in both defense and commercial applications.

“We are excited about the introduction of our new CIRES™ family of cameras, which leverages e2v’s expertise in CMOS sensors, to provide a compact camera module for color imaging in low-light conditions, as well as near-infrared illuminated applications,” said Robert Brevelle, President of e2v aerospace and defense, inc. “CIRES™ cameras will enable improved object recognition for enhanced situational awareness, surveillance, and security monitoring.”

CIRES™ cameras will be manufactured and supported by e2v aerospace and defense inc., located in Milpitas, CA.
