Littleton, MA, USA, August 6, 2015 – Lambda Research Corporation, the US distributor of opsira metrology equipment and leading designer and publisher of illumination and optical design software, announces the introduction of the new robogonio from opsira. The robogonio is the first robot –driven, multi-functional goniometer that incorporates six-axis measurement of angular-dependent photometric and radiometric parameters to combine the advantages of different conventional goniometer types into one device.

The robogonio is a revolutionary design concept that incorporates an industrial robot to provide flexibility in the positioning of light samples for measurements of light sources and luminaires. With a variety of mechanical variances, as well as the ability to manipulate measurement angles, the robogonio goniometer can scan virtually any geometry in the traditional A, B, or C planes by using one single measurement system. This saves the user time by eliminating the need to move test materials and having to recalibrate the unit, thus increasing accuracy and productivity.

The robogonio has both near-field and far-field capabilities. Early in a project, a user might measure sources in the near field and use the software to derive ray data. Later, the robogonio can be used to measure the far-field luminous intensity pattern or plane illumination distribution. Luminaire output can be generated in IES format for direct comparison with TracePro® simulations or direct use with lighting design software, such as LiteStar 4D, AGi32, or Dialux.

To view a full demonstration of the robiogonio please visit opsira’s YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/c/OpsiraDE.

As the exclusive distributor of opsira products in the United States, Lambda Research Corporation combines ray data measured by the robogonio with TracePro and other optical design and illumination software to deliver a complete, comprehensive product for design and analysis of illumination systems.

Certified by the German independent testing group TÜV, the robogonio has been classified in the highest tier of accuracy for gonio-photometers available in the world today. With an angular repeatability better than 0.005 degrees, combined with robust and reliable mechanical operation, the robogonio enables highly accurate, fast and complete photometric measurement with a high degree of flexibility.
